With a name like “Productive Memory,” I think it’s a good Idea to have a discussion about what we mean by “productivity.”

Productivity can be loaded word. It smacks of management manipulating employees to get as much work out of them as possible. Sweatshops thrive on productivity.

Here, though, it is anything but a coercive term to make people work harder for the sake of some faceless management.

Productivity can mean anything you want it to mean. What would you like to accomplish, produce, bring about? What would give you a feeling of fulfillment and satisfaction? Not because it would impress some boss, or anyone else, but because it is something within you that is dying to get out and be meaningful and significant. Something that would make you go “Aaaahhh,” when you behold its completion.

The only interest here is to discover, solidify,  and help you fulfill your hopes and dreams. Let’s be very careful about opting for the things that we really value, and not make choices based on society, or any other artificial contrivance. This is not productivity for productivity’s sake. This is not some rah-rah, you-can-do-it, I’m-OK-You’re-OK Corral pap.

This site can help you decide on your projects, solidify the goals and tasks, and remember them when you need to implement them.

Do you have a book in you? A story to tell? Art to create? Speeches to deliver? Coaching to help others? A professional practice that benefits the world that you want to promote? Songs to sing? Plays or movies to act in, produce, write?

Let it out. If you leave a comment and mention your project, I will know more about what should be covered in future posts.

As for me, the “current fantasy” is to finish a book about Productive Memory for Artists, Entrepreneurs and other Free-Lancers, as well as get a venue for my “Close-Up and Mental” magic show.
